Above the Clouds in the Mount Baker Wilderness, WA

Back in August, I snuck out on a one night backpacking trip up to the Mount Baker Wilderness in the North Cascades region of Washington. Every time I come to this area I am blown away by the grandeur of Mount Baker and the surrounding North Cascades. This trip however, turned particularly memorable with a jaw dropping sunset above the clouds. I'll let the photos below speak for themselves.

When I arrived at the basin I camped, the clouds were rolling in and out.
All afternoon the clouds swirled in and out of the ridges.
Finally above the clouds, Mount Baker makes an appearance.
Clouds roll over a ridgeline.
A ridge emerges from the cloud layer at sunset.
A self portrait high on the ridge.
A panorama of the view facing west. Mount Baker is to the left and the basin I'm camped is below (center).
The clouds began to descend as the sun set further.
Mount Baker rises above cotton candy colored clouds at sunset.
The clouds clear out of the basin below.

The high clouds glow brilliantly post sunset.
Clouds fill the valley to the north. Those two peaks mark the boundary of the US and Canada.
First light the next morning as seen from my tent.
Wildflowers covered the slopes on the hike out in the morning.
